We ship from Laem Chabang and Bangkok, and by air from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi.

Container shipping – importing from Thailand to Australia

Sea Freight from Thailand

  • FCL (full container): a 20ft or 40ft container for your goods only. Usually the best value from around 13 to 15 cubic metres.
  • LCL (shared container): pay only for the space you use, ideal for smaller orders.
  • Supplier consolidation: combine goods from several suppliers into one shipment.

See our sea freight service for more on FCL and LCL.

Air Freight from Thailand

For urgent, small or high-value shipments, air freight gets your goods to Australia in days rather than weeks, with customs clearance on arrival.

Sea freight from Laem Chabang to Sydney usually takes around two to three weeks port to port, depending on the shipping line. Air freight usually takes a few days. We confirm timings with every quote.

Save on Duty with TAFTA

Under the Thailand–Australia Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA), goods made in Thailand that meet the rules of origin can enter Australia duty-free.

To claim it, you need a TAFTA certificate of origin issued in Thailand by the Department of Foreign Trade or another authorised body. Some goods may also qualify under AANZFTA or RCEP. GST of 10% still applies.

Vehicles, Parts and Regulated Goods

Vehicles, vehicle parts, electrical goods and some building products are common imports from Thailand, and several are regulated in Australia. Vehicles need an import approval, electrical goods must meet Australian safety standards, and building products and vehicle parts are among the goods the Australian Border Force checks for asbestos.

Check what applies to your goods before you order, and ask us if you’re unsure.
